Creating our Future Workforce
Creating our Future Workforce Young Chamber connects businesses with young people in partnership with local education providers and a range of education business partnerships. Helping to bridge the gap between the education sector and employers, we are passionate about ensuring businesses, educators and the government support young people in their preparation for work. Many young people havenโt had the preparation or opportunities they need to succeed in the workplace and our initiatives aim to provide a solution to this issue.Young Chamber
Barry Smith is working with employers and 3 higher education colleges in Hampshire: Andover College, Basingstoke College of Technology and Queen Maryโs College, Basingstoke. These networking events enable students to engage in a purposeful way with local employers from different sectors, build their communication skills and open up future career opportunities. This work is ongoing and is showing a โConfidence Leapโ in communication, in presentation, professionalism and telephone etiquette amongst other key skills required for the workplace.

EBP South (Education, Business Partnership South) provides a strong partnership with Hampshire Chamber. As a registered charity established in 1997 it calls on over 20 yearsโ experience in providing career inspiration, preparation and experience to young people.
With a mission to inspire and prepare young people for the world of work, EBP South works with young people from Primary Schools to Colleges across Hampshire and the surrounding areas providing a range of in-house career guidance programmes and activities; as well as external events.
74,000 + volunteer hours from businesses and professionals ensures the success of this programme delivering a varied careers programme connecting students to businesses, supported by experienced Career Development Practitioners.
Young people are inspired in their career choice through engagement with employers, direct experience of work and support in the transition from learning to work. In addition to working with mainstream colleges, there are many young people who have barriers to their learning and ultimately their path to work. We support initiatives that break down these barriers which may occur due to neurodiversity or the young personโs experience of trauma. To help eradicate the growing NEET population we work with both mainstream higher education colleges and specialist establishments such as Inclusion Education and help employers understand the benefits of employing this unique youth workforce.
