We are proud to work with a broad partnership of organisations to deliver relevant content, events, information and advice for those businesses who want to become greener and more sustainable. The Hampshire Sustainable Action Network (HSAN) is a supportive network for SMEs looking to make practical progress on sustainability. Focusing on realistic, achievable actions without pressure or unnecessary complexity, HSAN brings businesses together to share experiences, learn from each other, and take steps at a pace that works for them. Through regular events, updates, and resources, members gain useful insights, real examples, and support with communicating their sustainability efforts clearly and honestly. “Kicking off the Hampshire Sustainability Action Network was a brilliant moment for the Chamber and Agilico – and seeing so many businesses dive in with real energy and purpose was inspiring. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see what we build together.” Ross McNally, CEO, Hampshire Chamber of Commerce The minutes from our last HSAN meeting at Chilworth Manor

Unlocking Hampshire’s Green Potential (UHGP)
This annual event brings people together from across the business community, alongside industry experts and educators, to explore practical and commercially focused approaches to sustainability and ESG. The event showcases innovative solutions, shares real-world case studies and provides actionable insight to help organisations reduce their environmental impact while improving performance, efficiency and long-term resilience. It also creates valuable opportunities to connect, collaborate and learn from others driving sustainable change across Hampshire and the wider region.

Benefits of becoming an eco friendly business
Putting your green commitments at the heart of strategic business plans and incorporating them into your business objectives provides real benefits, from the monetary to the reputational and beyond.
A sustainable business has three bottom lines (the 3 Ps): people, planet and profit. The main driver for any business wishing to become sustainable should always be to protect the environment and the health of local communities. They can do this by reducing waste, minimising carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency.
However, there are also many commercial reasons why sustainability should be a priority as it helps to:
- Improve brand image and reputation
- Increase employee retention and aid recruitment
- Increase productivity and reduce costs
- Get ahead of the curve

Ideas for businesses to become more eco friendly
– Go paperless – instead rely on software (paperless billing, digital docs)
– Think local – choose ‘green’ vendors/local suppliers
– Let employees work from home
– Educate employees on what they could personally be doing to be ‘more green’
– Use ‘green’ web hosting services
– Make charitable contributions to sustainable charities
– Host ‘green’ events such as tree planting/community gardening etc
– Sustainable travel – implement ‘green’ travel to work schemes
-Avoid ‘Greenwashing’ – commit to ‘green’ initiatives to make a real difference in your community
Want to get more involved?
Our ‘Green Innovation Steering Group’ meets regularly to discuss these important issues. If you are interested in joining, please contact lisa.hall@hampshirechamber.co.uk
