Championing inclusive workplaces: Diversity is better for everyone

Charity Inclusion Education are joining forces with their partners at Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Hampshire County Council, Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, Destination Basingstoke, Basingstoke Bizspace and Simpila Wellbeing, to present the third in a series of events highlighting the importance and benefit of diversity in the workplace.

The Future Potential event will be taking place on Thursday 19th June and aims to support businesses and organisations in their next steps to creating truly inclusive workplaces.

Inclusion Education Innovation and Development Director Marie Greenhalgh will be leading on part of the training, “This event really is the culmination of everything we have learned across the course of these sessions — informed by what local businesses and organisations have asked to learn more about. It will provide targeted training and development opportunities to address the identified gaps and will be a platform for open discussions, collaborative problem-solving, and the sharing of innovative ideas to further support our mission.”

The training event will cover topics such as deepening understanding of neurodivergence and the job roles this may complement, psychological safety in the workplace and supporting staff culture as well as hearing from other organisations developing this.

Marie continued, “We have been delighted with the response we’ve had from local businesses, and it would be incredible to build on this success and have even more involved. Together, we can create compassionate and supportive work environments where every young person has the chance to thrive and we are so grateful to those organisations that will be joining us.”

Leader of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council Cllr Paul Harvey said: “The Future Potential partnership was created to support young people in our community to unlock their full potential and increase their work opportunities. We’re encouraging local businesses to work with us to create an environment that encourages a more diverse and inclusive business community and positions Basingstoke and Deane at the heart of inclusive employment.
