Hampshire Chamber elects successful businessman and serial entrepreneur as Chairman

Simon Greenly has been elected Chairman of Hampshire Chamber. Simon is a Hampshire based entrepreneur with more than 30 years experience in corporate finance and directing companies

Already a director on the chamber board, Simon has acted as a board advisor to FTSE 100 companies including Cable & Wireless, Shell and as an investor and director of many smaller businesses, including some PLCs.

Simon said: Hampshire Chamber has been formed from the 3 leading Hampshire Chambers to strengthen the voice of the local business community and will provide seek to enhance the prosperity of members across the county. The new Hampshire Chamber will provide leadership and business support, and enable members to connect with more people, locally, regionally or nationally.

I am honoured to be its first chairman at a pivotal time for the regional economy as we strive towards strong business recovery following the recession.

Hampshire Chamber Chief Executive Jimmy Chestnutt said: Simon has extensive experience and first class skills as a director, adviser and mentor at the highest level.

His appointment is a significant boost for Hampshire Chamber as we develop and implement our business strategy.

Mr Greenly is the owner and chairman of Greenlys, Corporate Finance Advisors based at Corhampton in the Meon Valley.

His team also mentors emerging businesses including some through the Centre for Enterprise at the University of Portsmouth.

Simon began his career with the Beecham Group, now Glaxo SmithKline and Procter & Gamble, following an economics degree at London University.

As Chairman of Hampshire Chamber, Mr Greenly will be responsible for both driving the new strategic plan and ensuring that the highest standards of corporate governance are maintained.
