The infographic shows how important to the Solent the H&SC sector is – it’s a major employer in the region and has a key role in the local economy. Our engagement with local health and social care employers and stakeholders provided an opportunity to investigate the skills challenges and trends influencing the supply of skills within the industry across Solent. It has become clear that changing the perception of working in the sector is crucial to attracting and retaining skilled professionals committed to making a difference. Employers maintain that a person’s values are crucial for working in the sector, with attitude and ethics being more important than academic qualifications.
