Mandy Boughton, President of Hampshire Chamber of Commerce together with Ross McNally Executive Chair attended the BCC hosted Presidents Lunch and Reception at the House of Lords on 15th May. The gathering of Presidents and Board members from Chambers across the UK enjoyed insights of the keynote speeches.
Baroness Martha Lane Fox (BCC President) focused on the power of optimism and positivity in business and how this breeds confidence in difficult economic times. She described the importance of seizing challenges through which belief grows and innovation is sparked.
Heba Bevan OBE who is a British electronics engineer and founder and CEO of tech start-up UtterBerry Ltd, shared how AI is capable of enormous benefits to the economy whilst also providing whole new challenges in sustainable energy use. She shared her experiences of working in the tech sector, challenges as a female entrepreneur and the essential needs of fairer access to funding.
