In Romsey Peter Speirs and Jonathan Birch from Romsey Chamber brought together a showcase of independent local businesses, including Woody the dog from Romsey Eyecare, in Romsey Town Hall.
They were joined by the Mayor of Test Valley Iris Andersen, Caroline Nokes, MP for Romsey and Southampton North, David Webb from FSB, Mark Baulch from Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and many others.
The Council’s Economic Portfolio Holder, Councillor Peter Giddings, said: “We do all we can to recognise and support businesses throughout the year but Small Business Saturday is an opportunity to really highlight the work of our businesses and the fantastic products and services they offer. The Federation of Small Businesses has recognised Test Valley Borough Council as business friendly for several years. We were the only authority in the Wessex region to be Highly Commended in this year’s awards in both the best overall business friendly council and for the most innovative programme, which was awarded for our work to develop town centres.”
