Time – 09:30 – 11:00
About this event
The next event in the series of ‘Unlocking Southampton’s Potential’ focuses on the sustainability and net zero ambitions for the city. The event is jointly hosted by NatWest, PwC and Southampton Chamber of Commerce.
Without convincing global action, average temperatures are predicted to increase by much more than 1.5 degrees Celsius, a threshold at which scientists believe potentially irreversible environmental changes will occur. It’s time to accelerate the pace of change.
Businesses across the board are having to reassess their risks, strategies and business models, right now – to demonstrate that they understand and have a plan to tackle the physical and transition risks arising from the climate and ecological crisis.
Preventing climate breakdown is one of the most important problems of our time. Chairing the event will be Peter Taylor, Managing Partner at Paris Smith LLP. Our keynote speakers joining the session include:
- Dr Sarah Ivory, University of Edinburgh Business School
- Dr Ben Moat, National Oceanography Centre
- James Ghaffari, Director of Growth & Product, B Corp UKNncy Hynce, Founder, True Horizon & Tim Wookey, Managing Director, amamus Speciality Coffee
- Councillor Daniel Fitzhenry, Leader of Southampton City Council
