The Kickstart Scheme
The Kickstart Scheme is a £2 billion fund to create hundreds of thousands of high quality 6-month work
placements for young people aged 16-24, who are claiming Universal Credit. Hampshire Chamber of
Commerce is working alongside the British Chambers of Commerce and is a recognised gateway in
coordinating business responses.
An important part of the grant application is evidencing the training and support you will provide. Hampshire Chamber of Commerce is tasked by the Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) to make sure the training is completed for CV and Cover Letter writing also Interview Techniques. To support employers who are not able to offer these as in-house training, Kickstart Scheme Training Courses have been created, specifically to support with your Kickstart Scheme grant application compulsory declaration and evidence that “you provide employability support to young people”.
All of the training we offer has been designed around the candidates that will be on the Kickstart Scheme, and we’re keen to help them to develop and move forward with their careers either with you or somewhere else at the end of their placements.
There are multiple dates available for the training which can be booked below. Those on the Kickstart scheme only need to attend 1 date. the course content and material remains the same.
The Kickstart Workshop with Mission Performance
Employability Essentials – Government mandated Kickstart training.
Three one hour, on-line training modules in one day, delivered by professional communications coaches and covering all government mandated Kickstart Training.
CV and Cover Letter Writing: 1 hour online
How to write a professional CV and Covering Letter, in order to secure future employment.
• Covering letters: how to write and what to include
• CV styles
• Your personal statement
• Tailoring your application and understanding your audience
• Good and bad examples and what to avoid
Interview Skills: 1 hour on-line
Purpose: How to prepare for a successful outcome at interview. What to expect and how to deliver.
• Understanding the role you are applying for and your potential employer
• How to answer typical questions with impact
• Personal statement – highlight your strengths and what you bring to the role.
• Good questions to ask
• What to avoid
“Shine on Line”: 1 hour on-line
Purpose: Over 80% of first and second stage interviews in UK are now conducted on Zoom. This module is delivered by professionally trained on screen communications coaches and will provide the skills and techniques of how to
communicate on-line with impact.
• Setting up your home for professional online communications
• How to communicate with impact virtually
• Use of voice, energy and body language
• Things to avoid

Shine online – 09:30 10:30. CV Writing and Cover Letters – 11:00 – 12:00. Interview Techniques 13:00 – 14:00

All of these employability essential courses are required by the Department of Work and Pensions.
Certification of these courses will be provided on completion.
