‘Finding Peace in a Frantic World’ – A Workplace Mindfulness Course

1st January 2022 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Hampshire Chamber of Commerce are delighted to offer a first of a kind to our members – a gold-standard mindfulness programme specifically developed for the modern business world. This flagship programme, which has already been taught by our highly trained facilitator both locally and internationally will start in the Autumn this year, but spaces will be limited.

This unique course to Hampshire Chamber will feature a special launch price.

What’s covered?

The course will take you, step by step, through a practical, manageable and secular mindfulness course which has been specifically designed for the stresses of a post-pandemic workplace. It will show you scientifically proven ways to quieten your busy mind, methods to ground and centre yourself even in the midst of heightened stress, and ways to cope with even the busiest of lifestyles. It will teach you new ways of managing difficult thoughts, emotions and experiences, enabling you to build resilience and manage your stress more effectively. It will show you evidence-based ways of working constructively and cohesively with a diverse and inclusive workforce to maximise not just your potential but the potential of your team. Finally, it will demonstrate ways to really flourish in your life – to notice, dwell in and enhance the beautiful moments that make our lives so special, but which so often go unnoticed when we’re stressed or distracted.

Graduates of this programme have reported experiencing the following benefits within the first 8 weeks:
• Returning to work from sick leave ahead of schedule as a direct result of the course
• An increased ability in managing intensive workloads
• Improved quality / quantity of sleep
• Blood pressure returning to normal after 10 years of pre-hypertension
• Lower resting heart rate
• No longer feeling drained at the end of the working week
• Feeling happier and healthier, mentally and physically
• Being able to cope with work stress, putting everything into perspective once again

Who is Steve Ware?

Steve Ware was born and grew up in Portsmouth. He enjoyed a varied 28 year career at IBM, but is most proud of what he achieved in his last 8 years with the company, bringing about a real transformation via the mindfulness programme he learned to teach at the University of Oxford Mindfulness Centre. Steve never planned on bringing mindfulness into IBM, but what started as a personal practice to help him manage stress and anxiety soon blossomed into him presenting keynotes at major IBM events, developing a global mindfulness programme and running global Mindfulness@IBM summits for a community of over 14,000 people. On leaving IBM in September 2020 Steve created his mindfulness company, and continues to offer this incredible course to the wider business community. Over the last year, Steve has proven that what he delivers isn’t just a fit for corporate giants but is equally as powerful for small and medium businesses in all sectors.

Duration of course & testimonials

‘Finding Peace in a Frantic World’ is taught over eight weekly 90-minute sessions. Between sessions students are invited to engage in a daily home practice that typically takes no more than 10-20 mins (1-2% of an average person’s day). In addition to this, one of the most powerful aspects of the course are the many ways students are invited to cultivate more moments of stillness into their everyday lives, even whilst working. This is achieved not by doing different things but by doing things differently, these practical habit shifts take no time at all but have been shown to have profound effects over a period of weeks and months.

This deeply experiential programme is engaging, fun, and perfectly suited to even the busiest professional who wants to feel less overwhelmed and more resilient, less frazzled and more focused, all with an overarching sense of less stress and more happiness.

• “The course had a life changing impact on me and my family.” – Isobel Mackenzie, Senior IBM HR Leader

• “If you are going to do personal development and training then you ought to engage Steve. This is tricky stuff to teach and empower people to develop. Steve was inspirational and this is perhaps one of the most important courses you may have the good fortune to do in your life.” – Paul Lyons, Business Development Manager, Celerity Ltd
