What is the Kickstart Scheme?

The government has introduced the Kickstart Scheme in Great Britain, a £2 billion fund to create hundreds of thousands of high quality 6-month work placements aimed at those aged 16 to 24 who are on Universal Credit and are deemed to be at risk of long term unemployment. Any businesses taking part in the Scheme can apply for £1,500 per job placement available for any admin and training costs.

The Government will fund 100% of the National Minimum Wage for 25 hours per week as well as the associated employer National Insurance contributions and employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions.

Hampshire Chamber of Commerce is an approved Gateway which helps businesses, to be approved by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) making it possible for businesses to acquire much needed talent and access the available funding from government.

You will need to be a Limited company with at least one year’s financial records with Companies House.  We will support you through each stage to the point of employment and payment.

Please Note:  Our role in this scheme is open to both members and non-members.

We tried using the Kickstart Scheme and had no joy! We then turned to the chamber who managed to get us 10 applications accepted and kept us informed all the way through and took all the frustration away.
