Double win for Hampshire Chamber at Portsmouth Venus Awards
12 May 2016
Hampshire Chamber has scored a double success at a prestigious series of awards recognising women in business.
Directors Maureen Frost and Lizz Clarke were both honoured for their hard work, effort and skill at the Portsmouth Venus Awards 2016.
Maureen, the Chamber’s Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Operations, was named Director of the Year, while Lizz, who sits on the Portsmouth & South East Hampshire Area Committee, won the Shirlaws Lifetime Achievement Award.
Maureen said she was thrilled to receive her award, adding: “The Venus Awards are a great way to celebrate what women can achieve in business and, at the same time, inspire younger women setting out on their careers.”
The winners of this year’s awards, held in association with the Peter Cooper Motor Group, were announced at a ceremony and gala dinner attended by more than 160 guests at The Pyramids in Southsea.
There were 14 categories in all, attracting a record entry of 1,100 nominations and applications.
The evening was hosted by Shelley Jory-Leigh, the Hampshire-born British powerboat champion who, away from sport, runs a successful family bridal business.
All of this year’s winners in Portsmouth are invited to the Venus Awards National Finals to be held at the Audley Woods Hotel in Basingstoke on Thursday 7 July, 2016.
