Strategic Partnership for Two Key Hampshire Business Organisations

County food group Hampshire Fare and Hampshire Chamber of Commerce have formalised a strategic partnership to work together for the benefit of over 2000 businesses they jointly represent across the county.

Key roles for both Hampshire Fare and Hampshire Chamber of Commerce are the provision of business support and development services, profile-raising, as well as event and networking opportunities for its members. Hampshire Fare specifically focuses on businesses that produce, serve or sell food drink and craft originating from Hampshire, and has around 200 members ranging from farmers and artisan cheese-makers to delicatessens, pubs and 5* hotels.

A survey undertaken by Hampshire Fare in December 2009 illustrated the value of local food and farming to Hampshire’s economy. Findings highlighted that the combined sales revenue of Hampshire Fares members, which include local food, drink and craft producers, hospitality businesses and visitor attractions serving or selling local produce, was estimated at £188 million per annum.

Mike Wright, Hampshire Fare Chairman, said: “Being a Gold Patron of Hampshire Chamber of Commerce will enable Hampshire Fare to further raise awareness of the economic benefits of local food sourcing via the Chamber’s extensive membership and events programme”.

Maureen Frost, Director of Operations at Hampshire Chamber of Commerce added: “Hampshire Chamber of Commerce is delighted to be a Corporate Partner of Hampshire Fare. Local produce is an important part of the Hampshire economy and with Hampshire Fare member, Chocolate Craft winning the Hampshire Chamber sponsored Small Business of the Year Award at the recent 2011 South Coast Business Awards, this is a great demonstration of the synergy between the two organisations. We very much look forward to working with Hampshire Fare and their members on joint promotions and initiatives.”

Hampshire Fare is supported by Hampshire County Council with the backing of Corporate Partners Ecover UK Ltd, Festival Place Shopping Centre, Fuller Smith & Turner PLC, Leepeckgroup, Newsquest (Hampshire) Ltd, The Southern Cooperative, Wave 105 FM, and Corporate Friends The National Trust and New Forest & Hampshire County Show.
