OFT misrepresentation warning

18 Aug 10
We have had reports of members being contacted by a person purporting to be phoning from the Chamber and stating that he was from the Chamber of Commerce and that he had some important information from Office of Fair Trading to send on behalf of the Chamber.
Full name and contact details were asked for and when asked for proof of working for the Chamber his response was to inform that the information was inportant and if our member did not receive it, he would not be able to trade for the next 5 years!
If you receive such a call it is not anything we have authorised and we would strongly recommend that you do not divulge any contact information.
Any legitimate updates from the OFT would be communicated via our e-shots and or magazine
